Spessartite Garnet

Spessartite garnet is a natural variety of garnet belonging to the silicate group, more precisely to the aluminium garnet family. It stands out for its warm, luminous tones, ranging from vivid orange shades to orangey red, caused by the presence of manganese.

Its chemical formula is Mn₃Al₂(SiO₄)₃, characteristic of spessartite garnets. Its cubic crystal structure gives it a hardness of between 6.5 and 7.5 on the Mohs scale, with good resistance to abrasion.

Valued for its high brilliance, its often remarkable transparency and its vivid colours, spessartite garnet is particularly sought after in jewellery. It retains its lustre and physical properties over time, even with daily wear.
