Tsavorite garnet is a green variety of the grossular garnet group, renowned for the intensity of its colour and its remarkable brilliance. It shows shades ranging from vivid green to deep green, sometimes slightly yellowish depending on the crystal.
Its colour comes mainly from the natural presence of vanadium, and sometimes chromium, within its crystal structure. Depending on their concentration and the conditions of formation, these elements give the stone a luminous and generally even hue.
